The Nelons were on their way to the Gaither Homecoming Alaska Cruise when their aircraft crashed, resulting in the loss of three members of the family.
There were three members of the renowned gospel group The Nelons who were killed in an aircraft disaster that was so catastrophic that it took their lives.
The aircraft that Jason Clark and his wife, Kelly Nelon Clark, were flying in crashed near Recluse, Wyoming, on Friday. They were on their way to their annual Gaither Homecoming Alaska Cruise with their daughter, Amber Nelon Kistler. An further four people, including Amber’s husband, Nathan Kistler, as well as three other family friends, and the pilot of the aircraft, Larry Haynie, were also murdered in the tragedy.
Despite being a part of the singing group, Kelly and Jason’s second daughter, Autumn Nelon Streetman, did not accompany them on their family vacation. Over the course of the weekend, she issued a message in which she recognized the horrible event and expressed her gratitude to her supporters for their sympathies.
I would want to express my gratitude for the prayers that have already been said for me, my husband Jamie, and our soon-to-be-born baby boy, as well as for Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark. Autumn added, “We are grateful for your ongoing prayers, love, and support as we navigate the days that are to come.”
Autumn Streetman and her husband Jamie Streetman were notified of the sad event when they arrived in Seattle, Washington, where their cruise was scheduled to depart from. This information was provided in a statement that was made by Gaither Management Group on Saturday.
Investigations are presently being conducted to determine what caused the jet to crash. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the family was traveling in a single-engine turboprop Pilatus PC-12/47E when the aircraft crashed. The NTSB said that the plane was in “a remote location” at the time of the accident.
The collision, which took place at around one o’clock in the afternoon, was also responsible for a fire that broke out in the vicinity, necessitating the arrival of firemen from the Campbell County Fire Department to the site. According to the authorities, it was restricted to an area that was less than one square mile.
Haynie, the pilot of the jet, was recognized over the weekend for “a career of valued public service” in a statement issued by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. Haynie had previously served as the head of the Georgia Board of Corrections.
“Our entire family is asking everyone to join us in praying for those who have been lost, for their loved ones and communities, and for those throughout the gospel music community who have lost dear friends in this heartbreaking accident,” Kemp said in his statement.
The group’s most recent post on Instagram was made only a few hours before the accident, and it was a video that they shared from the tarmac during a pit break in Nebraska. In the post, they expressed their enthusiasm at the opportunity to meet up with their friends and followers while they were on the trip.
